What our clients are saying…
Why Coaching?
1
Tap into new kind of performance.
With so many demands on your time and mental space, it can be difficult to find time to just simply think.
A coach provides space to leave competing demands at the door and focus on exploring and resolving what is most pertinently on your mind, allowing you to tap into a new kind of performance which often unlocks previously untapped sources of imagination, productivity and leadership.
2
Be accountable to yourself.
Coulda, woulda, shoulda, would like to…sound familiar?
A coach will work with you to build a plan to which they will hold you capable and to which you will hold yourself accountable. Then you can proudly look back at your month, quarter and year, knowing that you moved forward towards achieving your goals.
And perhaps you may be inclined to celebrate a little bit too.
3
Safe space for exploring ideas.
Let’s face it, senior leadership roles can be lonely.
A professional coach is trained and experienced in providing a safe, confidential space for you to think and talk out loud without judgement so that you can continue to show up as the amazing leader you are.
Let’s get started.
FAQs
How is coaching different from mentorship?
The International Coaching Federation (ICF) defines coaching as partnering in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires a person to maximize their personal and professional potential. The process of coaching often unlocks previously untapped sources of imagination, productivity and leadership. Coaching is not mentorship, which is more directive and involves a mentor teaching the mentee specific skills or content. Coaching is also not therapy, which deals with healing past trauma or specific conflicts that impact emotional or psychological health.
How do I know coaching is right for me?
Many of our clients seek out coaching to help manage a high volume of competing demands, to elevate their leadership skills, to navigate a prospective or new career change, to help work through complex leadership challenges they are facing, or to overcome feelings of imposter syndrome. They key is that you have a desire to grow and improve, and are willing to be held capable and accountable to take steps towards reaching your goals.
What results can I expect to see?
While professional coaches are fundamentally partnering with you to help you explore your own ideas and thinking, you can certainly expect to be challenged in the process in order to help open up previously unexplored ways of thinking, to challenge preconceptions or limiting beliefs, or to consider different ways of approaching an issue or situation. This, combined with ample space to explore your thinking in a safe and confidential environment, has allowed our clients to leave our sessions feeling empowered to take the next step, more confident in their abilities, or with a greater clarity of thought. However, there is no magic wand; the higher your commitment and the greater your openness to the process, the more significant the result.
How much time should I invest in coaching?
While every client is unique, what we have found to be a common frequency is a one-hour session every two weeks, which allows for time between sessions to take specific actions and to reflect on key learnings. The length of the coaching relationship is completely up to the individual, but anywhere from three to six months is common. Most of our clients started out with that timeline in mind but have stayed with us beyond this horizon as they have found the coaching partnership beneficial to them personally and professionally. And of course, if at any point our clients feel like they are not getting the value they need, there is absolutely no obligation to keep going.
What standards must a professional coach abide by?
Professional (certified) coaches receive formal education in coaching skills and principles, which include both classroom education as well as a significant practical component. ICF-certified coaches are required to complete a rigorous qualification process and abide by the ICF Code of Ethics (available here) which reflects the ICF’s Core Values of professionalism, collaboration, humanity and equity. Kolibri offers certified coaching services and is in progress of obtaining the ICF ACC credential.
